Geological Problems Reported
A 1927 gas explosion killed 8 men. A dike and several faults, which lay parallel to the dike, ran through the mine trending northwest-southeast. The roof was good, except where there were water problems (particularly under a valley on the surface). The coal dipped away from the shaft, making haulage difficult.
