  1. The 1885 Coal Report indicated there may have been as many as four air shafts (two upcast and two downcast).
  2. Production before July 1881 is unknown, but the 1882 Coal Report indicated 229 acres had been mined. According to Biography in Black, A History of Streator, Illinois, the mine opened in 1875.
