  2. Production and years of operation prior to July 1878 and between July 1879 and June 1881 are unknown. This mine is shown on the 1874 Atlas, on land owned by Bruce Coal Mining and Manufacturing Company. The mine owners and opening year are known from History of Grundy County (1914). In Miners of the Prairie, a cooperative shaft was said to have been sunk in 1858 at the present site of Braceville, which may indicate this mine.
  3. Production and years of operation prior to July 1878 and between July 1879 and June 1881 are unknown. This mine is shown on the 1874 Atlas, on land owned by Bruce Coal Mining and Manufacturing Company. The mine owners and opening year are known from History of Grundy County (1914).
