Geology
Geological Problems Reported
A north-south trending fault was encountered in the east entry off the main north. This fault may have been an eroded roll. The western part of the mine had a limestone roof that was 4 to 7 ft thick. In the eastern and southern part of the mine, the roof was shale. In this part of the mine, 2 ft of top coal was left to support the roof. The blue band was 20 inches above the base of the coal and was 8 to 12 inches thick. In the area where this mine connected underground to Inland Mine (mine index 2481) there was a small area marked caved.
