Geological Problems Reported
The upper bench was 4.0 ft thick, with a sandy roof. A middle bench was very bony, and ranged from 2.0 to 7.5 ft thick. The lower bench of the coal was mined. Locally, shale lenses were present, a maximum of 0.25 inches thick. Calcite facings were present, a maximum of 0.5 inches thick. At the time of the visit, only the lower bench was mined, but because the upper benches were described (apparently visible), they had probably been mined at some time.

Notes
- ↑ This is the old hoist shaft from the Harvey Mine (mine index 7168). Replogle later used this shaft as a hoist shaft. The Replogle Mine also connected to the old Harvey Mine and used it as an air return.
- ↑ The thickness ranges were reported for the lower bench mined at the time of a visit. See the “Geological Problems Reported” section for the thickness of the other benches.
