Notes

  1. The Western Brick Property mines show a total of 188 acres surface-mined and 205 acres underground-mined on Danville Southeast and Danville Southwest Quadrangles. These pits are named 3788 on the Danville Southwest Quadrangle and 3710 on the Danville Southeast Quadrangle. The production of the mines is not recorded so that tonnage can be reliably split between surface and underground mines to correspond to the area shown, thus the area shown is larger than would be expected for the tonnage recorded. Western Brick Company leased their coal lands to other operators, and some of the unlocated mines at the back of this report probably mined Western Brick lands.
  2. Idle 1920
  3. Idle 1929
  4. Idle 1928
  5. The mine location was plotted on a 1:24,000 USGS topographic map from the mine location description and digitized.
