Notes

  1. A general area of mining of the shape described below under production was constructed to indicate the area undermined. This general area of mining is contiguous to the area shown for mine index 3791 (Contract Mine on Western Brick lands) and the Economy Mine (mine index 3785).
  2. Operated by General Carnahan
  3. Production unknown prior to fiscal year 1878-1879; for this reason, no total production is given for this mine. A local resident (Pichon) is recorded in the mine notes as indicating that the mine extended about a mile north [from theshaft?], to the river south, west to a brickyard and about a mile east to the hill just before 7th Street. This large general area of mining is also coded for the Economy Mine (mine index 3785), where Pichon is reported to have worked as a miner, and mine index 3791, one of the underground Contract mines.
  4. The mine location was plotted on a 1:24,000 USGS topographic map from the mine location description and digitized.
