Some small faults were observed, with 15 inches of displacement. Some slips extended down into the coal. The roof consisted of gray and black shales, with up to 10 feet of limestone above. The black shale varied from Β½ inch to over 30 inches thick. A limestone roof was present over considerable areas of this mine, and the rooms were driven wider in those areas. Lenses of pyrite were found in the mine. The pyrite was easily removed from the coal as it was mined. The blue band was 6 to 8 inches above the floor.
