Mining in the Flat Rock Quadrangle
The Bristol Hill Coal was mined in the Flat Rock Quadrangle. The coal was less than 3 feet thick, but shallow in many places (less than 20 feet deep) and easily surface-mined. The mines were small, local mines that did not operate long or excavate large areas.
