Harmony Quadrangle
Mining in the Harmony Quadrangle
There are only two known mines in the Harmony Quadrangle, both surface mines that operated before 1868. In both cases, the coal was dug from the bed of the creek or at the water’s edge. The seam is not known, only that it was a thin coal less than 2 feet thick.
