Walnut Hill Quadrangle
Mining in the Walnut Hill Quadrangle
Only two mines were known to have mined in this quadrangle. The Peabody No. 21 Mine (mine index 0086) is only a small extension of the mine; most of the mining took place on the Irvington Quadrangle. The other mine noted in the ISGS Field Notes was a small strip pit (mine index 3141), which likely only produced a small amount coal for local use.
