SW Text in the Coal Reports noted the construction of the first (circular) air shaft and the second air shaft in 1911, near the northwestern working face. Since no source map of the mine has been found, the precise location of these air shafts is unknown and they are not shown on the accompanying map. In 1907 the Sanborn Map Company showed an air shaft to be approximately 475 feet south of the main shaft.
