Geology
Geological Problems Reported
The roof varied, white top in some places, and black shale in others. The top of the coal was sometimes eroded under white top roof. The blue band was 12 to 18 inches above the floor. Mine notes dated 7-16-1909 stated that the company was expected to begin sinking the shaft to the No. 2 Coal in a few days and that the upper seam would be abandoned.
