Medora Quadrangle
Mining in the Medora Quadrangle
Only two mines are known to have operated in the Medora Quadrangle. The Medora Coal & Mining Company mine (mine index 2909), located just south of the town of Medora, only operated for 4 years, from 1882 to 1885. This mine encountered methane problems during its operation. Little is known about the other mine (mine index 3207) noted on ISGS work maps for a 1942 publication.
