Geological Problems Reported
The mine was greatly troubled with methane gas. The coal dipped to the east about 1 foot down for every 10 horizontal feet to the east, and the methane would collect along the west side of the workings.

- ↑ Some controversy regarding the seam mined took place in the 1950s, with some contending that the Colchester Coal was mined while others thought the Wiley Coal was mined.
- ↑ The mine was operated by George Garrett.
- ↑ Production was not reported for the fiscal year 1882-1883, but the mine was listed in the Coal Reports. It is likely that the shaft was under construction.
