Geological Problems Reported

A small area of the mine had a black shale roof with calcareous coal balls. The remainder of the roof contained many irregularly-distributed pyrite concretions. The coal seam contained occasional horsebacks and rolls up to 25 feet wide. Infrequent pyrite concretions occurred in the coal seam.
