Notes
- ↑ (7,733 in the Herrin Coal and 8,419 in the Springfield Coal). The area shown is larger than expected for the reported production. Production indicates approximately 5,500 acres were mined. It is likely that production was not recorded, such as years when production was reported for only Fulton County or only Knox County.
- ↑ Production, although listed in Fulton County, may include some Knox County production. All production from 1954 to 1962 was listed in Knox County, although mining did take place in Fulton County in that time period. The mine notes indicate that as many as 25 pits were operating at the same time.
