Geological Problems Reported
The roof was 15 ft of medium dark gray shale with abundant random slip planes and some slump structures. A channel sandstone (approximately 15 feet thick) cut out the coal locally. The coal was cut by small thrust faults in several locations or the entire normal thickness of the coal was repeated locally. Pyrite was present on vertical fracture fillings or as occasional lenses.
