Geological Problems Reported

The shaft was not perpendicular, and would have needed rectification in order to operate properly. A 30-foot seam of gravel was struck about 35 feet below the surface, making considerable water problems. These two factors presumably caused the shaft to be abandoned prior to production, as no mine fitting the description was reported in subsequent years.
