Geological Problems Reported

The coal is full of bony layers and pyrite in balls, lenses, and stringers. Calcium carbonate in facings; the coal is hard to work. The mine was only opened up 10 feet to east and west of the shaft at the time of the visit. “Will be abandoned unless the coal shows up better in 50 feet or less.”
