  1. Ownership and production prior to 1882 are unknown. The Coal Report of 1882 indicates 34 acres were mined. The 1874 Atlas of St. Clair County shows a shaft at this location, and the landowner is Knecht. Mining probably occurred at this location in the early 1870s.
