Notes

  1. Mines producing less than 1,000 tons per year were not listed in the Coal Reports from 1930 to 1933. In Always of Home, A Southern Illinois Childhood, Edgar Allen Imhoff mentions a drift mine and its portal that was opened by his uncle (Ray Imhoff) and his father (Ernest Imhoff). The drift mine probably also operated between 1930 and 1933, when small mines were not listed in the Coal Reports. The sketch map in the book indicates the drift mine may have been in 26-T8S-R3W, or could be as far north as 15-T8S-R3W. The drift mine is not shown on the accompanying map because of the uncertainty of the mine location.
