Notes

  1. Production indicates approximately 4 acres were mined. An additional 4 acres were said to have been mined before production was recorded in the Coal Reports.
  2. The original mine opening was a shaft, but the new drift in 1884 became the mine portal while the hoist shaft was used as an escapeway.
  3. Production and years of operation before 1879 are not known. The mine was operated by Col. D. H. Brush at the time the 1878 History of Jackson County was written, but the opening year was not clear from the text.
  4. Production and years of operation before 1879 are not known. By the time the 1880 Coal Report statistics were gathered, the mine was operated by Samuel T. Brush, the former mine manager. The 1880 Coal Report indicated 4 acres had been mined. Production between 1881 and 1883 was not reported.
