Geological Problems Reported
Some gas was reported in 1908. Three men were killed in a 1921 gas explosion. Parts of the mine were affected by faults, but some of these areas were made accessible by installation of some improved haulage equipment. Near some of the faults, gas and considerable water were recorded. A mica-peridotite dike present in this mine was 6 to 8 feet across. The roof was good, but draw slate came down with the coal.
