Geological Problems Reported
The mine was flooded by Coal Run Creek in April 1878 and although the water was pumped out, the mine did not produce substantially after the flood. This was the first mine disaster in Streator, and only one man out of approximately 100 men in the mine survived.

- ↑ The 1882 Coal Report indicated 25 acres had been mined. Ownership, production and years of operation before July 1881 are unknown. Biography in Black, A History of Streator, Illinois implies that this mine opened in the early 1870s.
