Additional Notes
Notes
- ↑ The date is extrapolated from mine notes written in 1958, stating that the shaft was reportedly sunk 15 years ago. 15 from 1958 equals 1943.
- ↑ The shaft was sunk in 1943, but no production was reported. This does not appear to be the same Black Diamond Coal Company mine that operated in 1931 listed in the unlocated mines in Madison County.
- ↑ The shaft was pumped out in 7 hours in November 1958 and an eastbound entry was driven about 8 feet to get a 4 to 5 ton sample for a pilot scale coke test for the ISGS. Channel samples were taken in two sites along the entry. No production was recorded in the Coal Reports.
