- ↑ The mine is larger than expected for the reported production plus the area mined before production was reported. The area shown on the accompanying map may be a general area of mining that is 30 acres larger than expected.
- ↑ Reported under John Buck, Superintendent. The mine was named Black Diamond Coal Company on the Federal Land Bank Report map. The town of Sunfield was previously known as Diamond, and it is likely that the town and mines in the area were all named for the coal that was so prevalent here.
- ↑ Production and years of operation before 1882 are not known. The 1882 Coal Report indicated 30 acres were mined.
