↑ The mine is larger than expected for the reported production plus the area mined before production was reported. The area shown on the accompanying map may be a general area of mining that is 200 acres larger than expected. It is likely that the outline contains other old mines that operated before 1880, and some of the air shafts may be hoist shafts for those old mines that were converted to air and escape shafts when the workings were connected underground.
