Not Shown On Map. The ISGS mine notes locate the mine in the northeast quarter of the southeast quarter and further states that the Danville Coal is 12 feet deep. The topography of this area is steep, and the nearby mines are in the same coal but are underground. Lee Coal Company typically auger-mined along the highwalls of earlier surface mines, but could easily auger into a hillside as well. This mine is not shown on the accompanying map due to great uncertainty about the mine’s location. The area mined would be much less than an acre, and this does not show up on the topographic map.
