Inflation Reduction Act

The Inflation Reduction Act provides tax credits for the installation of clean energy facilities, with increased benefits based on location. The credit amount could be increased by 10% for facilities located in an energy community. An energy community is defined as being a brownfield site; an area which has or had certain amounts of direct employment or local tax revenue related to oil, gas, or coal activities and has an unemployment rate at or above the national average; or a census tract or any adjoining tract in which a coal mine closed after December 31, 1999, or in which a coal-fired electric power plant was retired after December 31, 2009.
