Geological Problems Reported

No large faults were observed, but a number of small irregularities in the roof cut the coal down to 3.5 feet thick. Rolls were present. The roof was gray shale that required some top coal left to support it throughout the mine. The floor clay heaved badly when wet, especially where it was thick.
