Geological Problems Reported
The mine closed because of water breaking in from a creek on the surface. Pumping removed the water, but salvageable materials were removed and the mine closed after the flood.

Notes
- ↑ No air shafts were shown on the source maps. The 1885 Coal Report stated two upcast air shafts were in operation, and a new air shaft was noted in the 1889 Coal Report (1900 feet west of the hoist shaft, with a stairway men could use to get to the workplace).
- ↑ Production before July 1881 is unknown, but the 1882 Coal Report indicated 310 acres had been mined. According to Biography in Black, a History of Streator, Illinois, this mine opened in 1870 and the company merged with Chicago & Wilmington Coal Company in 1871.
