Geological Problems Reported

The roof was 1.5 to 5 ft of black shale that held up well although numerous concretions were present. Horsebacks were common. The pyrite in the coal was confined to stringers and bands, no nodules or lenses were seen. The floor was a hard gray fireclay that did not heave.
