Mining in the Saline Mines Quadrangle

The Davis Coal was mined in the northern part of the quadrangle, an extension of the Eagle Surface Mine (mine index 0883). The Tartar Coal was mined in the Saline Mines Quadrangle, but it was thin. Because of the podlike nature of the coal deposition, the mines were small and the product was used only locally. The majority of the mining was fluorspar extraction in the southern half of the quadrangle.
